Day out in Liverpool
Had a day out in Liverpool today! It was really windy, especially near the water, so I was careful to put together a coordinate that would still be practical for wind and a little bit of rain. I really wanted to wear this physical drop sailor dress since I was visiting the docks, and it was a longer length that I knew would help me to keep warm. For outerwear, I added the cape from Physical Drop with matching tartan to keep the wind off. For most of the day I had it fastened with the front closed, but towards the end of the afternoon it got quite warm so I ended up switching to the open style of wear, which can be seen in the picture. For my hat I thought that this style of hat would work quite nicely with a nautical feel, but when worn it turned out looking more like a historical bonnet. But this was still quite cute. I tied my hair neatly so that it would be easier to manage in the wind while still looking cute. The bubble braids were an easy and convenient way to prevent my hair from blowing around too much.
As for the sights I saw, there were a lot of boats on the docks! I saw one boat in the dry dock, I’m not sure if it was there to demonstrate the way a dry dock is used, or whether it was undergoing any repairs. I also saw plenty of superlambananas. I have really loved this weird mascot design since I first saw them as a kid, so I always get really excited to spot these guys around Liverpool.
We visited the Liverpool Museum, and I held a gas mask that would be used for a baby. It was so heavy! It was a metal dome that went over the baby. I think women in WW2 would have had to lift weights in order to prepare for air raids. Or perhaps just practice each day holding a baby and the baby gas mask. I was also surprised to find out that in the past there was an overhead railway in Liverpool, but it was demolished. The loss of railways in the North of England over the past century has been absolutely tragic. But the Liverpool Museum was quite interesting anyway.
While we were there, there was a road closed off for filming. I am curious what they were filming! But I never found out while I was there.
